Science - Aliens in the universe

It is important to consider that Alien life may not be carbon-based!  Please see the article from space.com.  Click here to read more....

The following is a summary from Google:

While there is no definitive scientific proof of extraterrestrial life, there are numerous intriguing findings and theories that suggest its possibility. Various scientific endeavors, like the search for biosignatures on other planets and the analysis of unidentified aerial phenomena, continue to fuel speculation and research.

Here's a breakdown of the current state of the search:

1. Evidence and Theories:

  • Biosignatures:
  • The discovery of certain chemicals like dimethyl sulfide (DMS) in the atmosphere of exoplanet K2-18 b, while not proof of life, are considered the strongest evidence yet for potential life beyond our solar system because DMS is primarily produced by living organisms on Earth.
  • Potential Microbial Life on Mars:
  • Methane detected in the Martian atmosphere, though also produced by geological processes, could indicate microbial life.
  • Subsurface Oceans:
  • The possibility of liquid water oceans beneath the surfaces of moons like Europa and Enceladus raises the possibility of extraterrestrial life, as liquid water is considered essential for life as we know it.
  • Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs):
  • While the US government has stated that UAPs are not necessarily extraterrestrial in nature, the ongoing study of these phenomena continues to spark public interest and scientific investigation.
  • Meteorites:
  • Meteorites like ALH84001, believed to have originated from Mars, have been analyzed for potential fossils or signs of past life.
  • The Drake Equation:
  • This equation, while speculative, attempts to estimate the number of civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy that might be capable of interstellar communication.

2. Challenges and Considerations:

  • Vastness of Space:
  • The sheer size of the universe makes it incredibly challenging to search for and detect extraterrestrial life.
  • Defining Life:
  • Our current understanding of life is based on terrestrial biology, and extraterrestrial life may have evolved under different conditions and possess different characteristics.
  • Extraordinary Claims Require Extraordinary Evidence:
  • This principle, popularized by Carl Sagan, highlights the need for robust evidence before declaring the discovery of extraterrestrial life.
  • Confirmation Bias:
  • It's important to avoid interpreting ambiguous data as evidence of extraterrestrial life when other explanations are possible.
  • Public Perception:
  • The search for extraterrestrial life is often met with skepticism and sensationalism, making it crucial to maintain scientific rigor and transparency.

3. The Ongoing Search:

  • Dedicated Missions:
  • NASA and other space agencies are actively searching for biosignatures on Mars and other potentially habitable bodies in our solar system.
  • Telescopes:
  • Powerful telescopes like the James Webb Space Telescope are used to study the atmospheres of exoplanets for signs of life.
  • SETI:
  • The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) project continues to analyze radio signals from space in hopes of detecting artificial signals from another civilization.

While definitive proof of alien life remains elusive, the search continues to be a vibrant area of scientific inquiry, with new discoveries and advancements constantly pushing the boundaries of our knowledge.

Qur'an - Aliens in the universe

The Arabic word ( دَآبَّةٍ  ) means living beings. Many verses of the Holy Qur'an refer to the living beings on the planet Earth.  These are listed here:

2-164, 6:38, 11:6, 11:56, 16:49, 16:61, 24:45, 27:82, 29:60, 31:10, 34:14, 35:45, 45:4

However, the fascinating thing is that one verse also mentions living beings in the universe in addition to the Earth!  It is clearly saying that He created the heavens and the Earth and dispersed living creatures throughout them!  This agrees with a number of hadith (narrations).

And among His signs is the [very] creation of the heavens and the earth, and of all the living creatures which He has caused to multiply throughout them:  and [since He has created them,] He has [also] the power to gather them [unto Himself] whenever He wills. 42:29

Additionally, the Holy Qur'an clearly describes that jinns are made of "smokeless fire" instead of being carbon-based.  That is why Satan arrogantly claims that he is better than Adam.

(Allah) said: "What prevented you from bowing down when I commanded you?"

He said: "I am better than he. You created me from fire, and him from clay."  7:12

 وَٱلْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنَـٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نَّارِ ٱلسَّمُومِ

And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.  15:27

وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ

And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 55:15
