Backbone and the Ribs

Sura 86 is one of many places in the Holy Qur'an describing the human conception.  This passage is one of several in the Qur'an that reflect on the origins of human life, often emphasizing divine power and the mystery of creation.  Semen is primarily produced by the seminal vesicles and the prostate gland, with contributions from the testes and other glands. The seminal vesicles secrete a viscous, fructose-rich fluid that makes up the majority of semen. The prostate gland contributes a thin, milky fluid containing enzymes and other substances. Sperm, produced in the testes, also contribute to the final semen mixture.  Why is the verse informing us that the fluid emerges from between the backbone and the ribs?!

  1. One interpretation of the verse given by the scholars is that Verse 86:7 may be referring to the location of the woman's body where the baby is born.

  2. The Sematic Innervation which controls the reproductive process in particular controlling the scrotum which controls the ejection of the fluid.  The Sematic Innervation is precisely located between the backbone and ribs!

  3. Additionally, during the fetal development, the gonads (reproductive system) begins in the same spot (backbone and the ribs).  This was only recently discovered!

  4. In medical imaging terminology, the position of structures are defined as between the Anterior and Posterior.  The Seminal Vesicle is still considered to be between the backbone/spine (back side) and the ribs (front side).

It becomes evident that the verse is not only correct but also points out to multiple scientific facts that were only recently discovered.

خُلِقَ مِن مَّآءٍ دَافِقٍ

He was created from a fluid, ejected,  86:6

يَخْرُجُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ ٱلصُّلْبِ وَٱلتَّرَآئِبِ

Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.86:7
