News of future victory over Mecca
When the idol worshippers planned to kill Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he left Mecca for Medina. Later, the small group of Muslims who were living in Mecca followed him to Medina. At this point, the Muslims were weak and it looked almost impossible for them to return to Mecca in the future. It is said that the prophet had a dream that the Muslims peacefully returned to Mecca for Hajj pilgrimage. The following verses promise the future triumph over Mecca. Years later, as it was promised in the verse, Prophet Muhammad and thousands of Muslim went to Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage. This is known as the Farewell Hajj. The Meccans peacefully surrendered and they all accepted Islam. There was no battle, and the Muslims returned to Mecca! After years of persecution and hostility from the Meccans, upon their victorious return to Mecca, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) chose to grant general amnesty to his former enemies.
هُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ شَهِيدًا
It is He Who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth,
to proclaim it over all religion: and enough is Allah for a Witness 48:28
إِذَا جَآءَ نَصْرُ ٱللَّهِ وَٱلْفَتْحُ
وَرَأَيْتَ ٱلنَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِى دِينِ ٱللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا
When comes the Help of Allah, and Victory,
And you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes,
Celebrate the praises of your Lord, and pray for His Forgiveness: For He is Oft-Returning (in Grace and Mercy). 110:1-3
